What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is OpenAI’s AI assistant. Beyond chat, its plans include file uploads, image creation, voice, deep research, memory, projects, scheduled tasks, custom GPTs, the Codex coding agent and ChatGPT Work. It is sold as individual plans (Free, Go, Plus and Pro) and as Business and Enterprise plans for organisations.

Who should use ChatGPT?

ChatGPT pricing

ChatGPT’s pricing page shows prices in the visitor’s local currency. From our location (India) on 20 Oct 2026 it showed Go at ₹399 a month, Plus at ₹1,999, and Pro from ₹10,699. Business was ₹1,800 per standard seat a month billed annually (₹2,250 monthly) and ₹9,000 per premium seat (₹11,250 monthly). Enterprise is custom. USD prices were not verified, so check the page from your country.

Ease of use and implementation

SoftPilot has not run controlled tests of ChatGPT. For teams, Business lets you mix standard and premium seats, so give premium seats (5x usage, no 5-hour limit) only to heavy users. Set a data-sharing policy before connecting company apps.

Should you shortlist ChatGPT?

Shortlist ChatGPT if you want a broad general assistant with a wide feature set, including image creation, voice, coding (Codex) and team workspaces.

Look elsewhere if your team lives in Google Workspace (consider Gemini), or you mainly need cited research (consider Perplexity). Pilot at least one alternative on your own tasks.
